Terms of Service

Meresay · Effective date: July 16, 2026 · Applies to the Meresay Android app

These terms are a contract between you and Meresay ("we", "us") governing your use of the Meresay app. By installing or using Meresay, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What Meresay is

Meresay delivers short inspirational sentences to your device as push notifications, on a schedule you choose. It is a free app with no accounts: you use it anonymously. Our Privacy Policy describes the small amount of data we handle.

2. AI-generated content

The sentences in Meresay's catalog are drafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence and reviewed by a human editor before publication. A small portion of the catalog consists of public-domain quotations with verified attribution. AI-assisted content is original text, not attributed to any person. If any message seems wrong, harmful, or misattributed, please report it from within the app — every message has a report option — and we will review it.

3. Not advice

Meresay's content is intended for inspiration and encouragement only. It is not medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and it is not a crisis service. Do not rely on it as a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline.

4. Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Meresay on Android devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and any applicable Google Play terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Content ownership

The app, its design, and its content catalog are owned by Meresay or used under license (public-domain material excepted — public-domain quotations remain public domain). You may share individual messages privately in the ordinary way (e.g. a screenshot to a friend); bulk extraction or commercial republication of the catalog is not permitted.

7. Reporting content and copyright

You can report any message from within the app. Reports are reviewed by a human, and content that violates our standards is removed and pending deliveries of it are cancelled. Copyright concerns can also be raised through our copyright process.

8. Service changes and availability

Meresay is provided free of charge and on an as-available basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service (in whole or in part) at any time. We aim for reliable delivery, but push notifications depend on your device, your network, and Google's messaging infrastructure, and we do not guarantee that any particular notification will arrive or arrive on time.

9. Termination

You can stop using Meresay at any time by uninstalling it, and can delete your stored data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate service to any device that violates these terms or harms the service.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meresay is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions; where the law grants you rights that cannot be waived, those rights are unaffected.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meresay will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (currently zero, as the app is free) and (b) US $50. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect and update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of the State of New York, United States, except where the consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
